Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing witnessed the Lamp lighting Ceremony of the 22nd batch of B.Sc (N) and 24th batch of GNM on 20th December 2018 at 10 am at AJIMS Auditorium, kuntikana, Mangaluru as a tribute to Florence Nightingale – The lady with the lamp, and it signifies the new students entry into the practice the profession of nursing.
The programme began with an invocation dance followed by a accord of warm welcome to all the dignitaries by Mrs. Manjusha, Lecturer, LMCN. As a traditional way the programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp. Mrs. Cletta Tressi D’Cunha, Lecturer, enlightened the audience on the significance of the day.
The chief guest for the day Prof. Lakshmidevi. N, Principal, Global College of Nursing, Bengaluru and Dean, Faculty of Nursing, RGUHS along with Dr. Larissa Martha Sams, principal, LMCN garlanded the portrait of Florence Nightingale to mark the love and respect and lit the lamp and passed on the light of wisdom to the novice nurses. Mrs. Shalini Fernandes , Assistant professor, LMCN, recited the pledge to the nursing students.
Prof. Lakshmidevi N, the chief guest of the day addressed the gathering and stressed that nursing is one of the best profession in the world and also she highlighted the qualities of nurse and professional ethics.
Dr. Larissa Martha Sams, Principal, congratulated the students and motivated them to commit themselves to the noble profession and stressed on students to keep up the dignity, honesty and professionalism in their career.
Shri Prashanth Shetty, Vice President, LMET presided over the ceremony and motivated the students to improve their knowledge and skills needed to provide quality patient care and also she stressed upon the full support of management in providing needed opportunities and resources and students should best make use of all the resources provided.
Smt.Ashritha P.Shetty, Director, LMET. Dr. Theresa leonilda mendonca, vice principal, LMCN was also present on this auspicious occasion.
