The Community Health Nursing Department of Laxmi Memorial College Of Nursing organized an Observation of world Tuberculosis day on 24-03-2017 at Government TB and Chest diseases Hospital , Moodushedde , Mangaluru. Dr. Rachana Shetty ,Medical Superintendent was the chief guest, Dr. Kishore kumar, Deputy chief medical officer was the resource person who spoke on tuberculosis to the nursing students. Dr. Jenifer D’souza, HOD, community health nursing unveiled the theme “UNITE TO END TB”. Dr. Rukmini, Deputy chief medical officer, Dr. Savitha, Senior medical officer and Mrs. Jayanthi,Nursing superintendent in-charge were present for the programme. Dr. Larissa Martha Sams, Principal LMCN, presided over the programme and said that TB can be cured 100% if the patient strictly adheres to the Tuberculosis treatment. After the stage programme ,a skit on Rehabilitation for TB patient was enacted by IInd BSc Nursing students followed by a video presentation to create awareness among patients.. Finally fruits were distributed to the patients. As a part of the WORLD TB DAY observation a slogan competition was organized in LMET auditorium to sensitize the students towards this years theme -” UNITE TO END TB”.
