Autism is a disorder of neural development characterized by impaired social interaction and communication, and by restricted and repetitive behavior .To mark this day, and to make it memorable for the autistic children the department of Mental Health Nursing and final year Post Basic Bsc Nursing students of Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing organized a fun filled yet educative program on 4th April 2017 at Riya foundation Kulsekar, Mangaluru .Dr Larissa Martha Sams in her presidential address lauded the efforts of Riya Foundation in caring children with Autism. Mrs Keerthana P Kumar founder Director outlined the circumstances which led to the establishment of Riya foundation as well as the regarding the institution. The 2nd year Post Basic Bsc Nursing students enacted a musical skit depicting the areas of personal hygiene and its importance. The students conducted a variety entertainment program which made the children happy.
.Various games to stimulate them were conducted and prizes were awarded to winners.Gifts in the form of crayons, sketch pens and other items were given away by the principal Dr Larissa Martha Sams .The program stimulated the students to sing and participate.The program ended with refreshments.
