Youth Red Cross
The Indian Red Cross Society is a voluntary, humanitarian organization, established by an act of the Indian Legislation in 1920, having on its rolls the States, the Union Territories, the Districts and the Sub-District branches. Its activities are being directed forward to the “Prevention of Diseases, Improvement of Health and Mitigation of Suffering.” The Indian Red Cross Society realized the importance of the youth way back in1925 and established the Junior Red Cross (JRC) in schools and Youth Red Cross (YRC) in colleges.
OBJECTIVES OF YOUTH RED CROSS SOCIETY:
1. Promotion and protection of health and life.
2. Selfless service to the sick and suffering.
3. Promotion of national and international friendship.
4. Disaster relief to the victims.
The LAXMI MEMORIAL COLLEGE OF NURSING established its Youth Red Cross Wing (YRCW) on 6th December 2006. The YRCW of our college is proud to reveal its activities that took place in the year 2015-2016.
ACTIVITIES OF YOUTH RED CROSS WING:
BLOOD GROUP SCREENING CAMP
The YRCW of LMCN organized a blood group screening camp for the student of St .Joseph primary school Kankanady at A.J. hospital and Research Center on February 10th 2015.The program witnessed the presence of 100 students.
BLOOD DONATION AWARENESS PROGRAMME
he YRCW of LMCN in collaboration with Sri Ramakrishna College on behalf of World blood donors’ day organized a Blood donation awareness program at Sri Ramakrishna College, Mangalore on June 26th 2015. Blood recipients from various places expressed their gratitude for the donars.
GENEVA CONVENTION DAY- AUGUST 2015
Geneva convention day- August 2015 was observed on 19th of August 2015 . Talk by Mr. Santhosh D'Souza, Advocate and Secretary distict Red Cross, on Red Cross Society and its activity was arranged for 2nd Yr. Bsc.Nursing students in LMET auditorium.
“VOLUNTARY BLOOD DONATION DRIVE”-DECEMBER 2015
“Voluntary blood donation drive” organized by YRCW of LMCN and HDFC bank was held on 9th December 2015 at blood bank of A.J.Hospital Research Center, Kuntikana. There were nearly 90 students of Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing, Laxmi Memorial College of Physiotherapy and also public donated the blood.
HEALTH EDUCATION PROGRAMS
The YRCW of LMCN had organized various Health Education Programs for the public on various topics, like, “Health Education on Good Habits” for the school children and also Health Education on TB, AIDS, Malaria and Environmental Sanitation for the community.

“Voluntary blood donation drive” was organized by YRCW of LMCN and HDFC bank on 26th November 2016 at blood bank of A.J.Institute of Medical Sciences, Kuntikana.
Their upcoming program is awareness program on cancer which will be held on February 4th 2017
Thus the YRCW of our college actively rejuvenates the young spirits to serve the society voluntarily.
